Difference between an observation and inference

Observation: An observation is using all of your senses to note things that are around you.Observation also means to observe or monitor someone or something.

Example: “She was bought into hospital for observation.”

Inference: An inference is a likely explanation of an observation.A inference is a conclusion reached on a basis of evidence and reasoning.

Example: “Researchers are entrusted with drawing inferences from the data”

Difference between observation and inference: The difference is that an observation is taking notes and monitoring someone or something and a inference is a statement with some evidence or data to support it.

By looking at both sides of the table, you can easily tell the difference between an observation and an inference.
